  • Review: Alan Rickman’s “A Little Chaos”

    Alysha McLeod
    1 Jul 2015 | 5:39 am
Alan Rickman has had a prolific career thus far, so it should come as no surprise that his new film “A Little Chaos” highlights him as a Renaissance man of sorts. Rickman directed, co-wrote, and performed the role of King Louis XIV in the film. While the review on ithacajournal.com questions some of Rickman’s artistic choices in the screenwriting of the film, it praises his directorial effort and his portrayal of the Sun King: “A Little Chaos” is clearly a labor of love for Alan Rickman, Winslet’s “Sense and Sensibility” co-star, who not only directed it and…

Today we honor the death of one of the greatest literary characters ever created. Though Albus Dumbledore may have never breathed in real life, he was always alive in our hearts. His great wisdom reminded us that “happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light.” For “it is the unknown that we fear when we look upon death and darkness, nothing more,” and we “should not pity the dead; [we should] pity the living, and above all, those who live without love;” especially when “[failing] to understand that…

Magic Mike XXL is the story of Mike Lane (Channing Tatum), a legendary retired stripper (is there such a thing?) who meets up with his former stripper buddies on their way to a stripping convention in Myrtle Beach. Lots of stripping - in case you hadn’t noticed. The film has some funny moments, but the storyline can be confusing to anyone who hasn’t seen the original Magic Mike. That probably doesn’t matter, though, as most audience members aren’t looking for a captivating plot here. If you're into that sort of thing, or just want to see some of your favorite stars…

At first Mini Me wasn’t too sure about this prospective journey. In a month which was technically meant to be a break from football, it turned to be a month of nothing but football. But I’m not complaining, nor am I despairing over what little time I have for other things. It no longer annoys me that I don’t have much time for films or TV. I went to the midnight releases for the books (shout out to Dad for being so cool about taking me even though he wished I’d wait until morning)…
